Geometric survey

Undertaking a geometric survey involves undertaking all the operations required to define the salient data for the execution of a contract.

The first task is to survey the characteristics of the building and the land plot or the structure in question; then all the data is recorded on paper or in electronic format for subsequent processing in the context of a targeted assessment and the possible drafting of a new project design.

The survey may be either manual or instrumental and it may relate to the characteristics of a structure (geometric data) or the specifications of a land plot or a road (topographic data).
